No app push notifications received

If you're not receiving push notifications to your Android application, please check the following to ensure you're able to receive the notifications.

1. Sign in to the app

Push notifications will not be delivered if you are not signed in to the mobile application on your device. To verify that you are signed in, when you launch the app, you should see your most recent village dashboard (or the last screen you were on). If you're not signed in, you'll see the Sign In screen.

2. Check your notification preferences

Your notification preferences can be set for each village (meaning you can get all notifications for one of your villages, but only some for a different village). Please check you notification preferences (under My Account > Notifications) and ensure you have App notifications enabled.

3. Check your firewall settings

Caring Villages relies on Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) which is the push notification service used by most Android apps. The ports 5228, 5229, and 5230 should be opened on your firewall to allow devices to receive push notifications while connected to WiFi. GCM typically only uses 5228, but it sometimes uses 5229 and 5230.
